Saint-Nicholas, the patron saint of children and the model for Santa Claus, is celebrated every year on December 6.
On Saint-Nicholas Day, the Alsace region has a tradition of eating man-shaped Manala.

During this time of the year, you can find Manala at any patissier or boulangerie in Strasbourg, in the northeast of France.
The original Manala is a brioche dough bread filled with milk, but it comes in many versions, from simple to chocolate chip, cinnamon flavored, fried bread, and more 😋

It always seems strange to me why every year at this time, on Saint Nicholas Day, the patron saint of children, people eat Manala, a food in the shape of a human being ..... 🤔
